Five arcade racers that actually feel fast on a phone
A lot of mobile racing games chase realism and end up feeling sluggish on a touchscreen. The ones I keep coming back to all share the same thing: they prioritize the feeling of speed over simulation accuracy. Neon Drift Circuit is the clearest example — it's all drift and momentum, and it nails it.
The best arcade racers get the controls out of your way. Whether it's tilt or a simple accelerate-and-steer layout, you shouldn't be fighting the interface. Good games also give you a reason to replay tracks, usually through ghost times or shortcut discovery.
I'd steer new players toward tilt controls once they trust the game not to twitch. It feels more natural than two on-screen buttons and frees up more of the screen. Give it a few laps before judging.
Short tracks aren't a weakness in this genre — they're a feature. A ninety-second lap you want to perfect beats a five-minute slog you play once. Learn the corners, shave the seconds, repeat.
