Frontier Command

Frontier Command asks you to build and defend a settlement against waves of raiders, but it does so without the endless wait timers that ruin most mobile strategy games. Resources gather at a sane pace and you can actually make progress in a single session.

The map layout matters a lot. Where you place walls, towers, and resource nodes decides whether a wave rolls over you or bounces off. I liked that you can pause and plan before each defense rather than scrambling in real time.

It isn't the prettiest game on the list, and the enemy variety thins out in the late game. But for players who want to think rather than tap, it's a solid pick.
